It's finally 2020!
And with the new year, it's time to decide and write about new year reading resolutions and goals. One of my reading goal for this year is that this year will be my best reading year so far and to finally read and re-read all of the Sarah J.Maas books (I only read the first three books in the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series on audiobook and the first three books in the "Throne of Glass" series so far).I really want to finally physically re-read and annotate all three books in "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series and continue with the "Throne of Glass" series this year.
Sarah J. Maas is also publishing another book this year, which is book one of her new book series (House of Earth and Blood) and it comes out on March 3. So there are altogether 13 books to be read this year from this author.
Because of this, I decided to stretch this reading experience throughout the whole year and read one Sarah J.Maas book a month. I thought that maybe there are some people out there who want to join me in this Sarah J.Maas yearly read-along and experience with me the world of fairies, fantasy and romance.
So how is this read-along going to happen? Well, we read one book a month - you can read with me in the order listed down below, or you can decide in another order, as long as you read one book a month, twelve months in the year (the novella from "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series is very short so you can read it with another book - that is the only month in which you read two SJM books).
After each month of reading, I will post my review, my thoughts, my annotations and more of the current book on this blog, and you can comment under the post your thoughts and more.
You can also tweet between reading using hashtag #SJMRA (Sarah j maas read-along).
My order:
- January 1.- January 31.: A Court of Thorns and Roses (book #1 in "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series)
- February 1. - February 29.: A Court of Mist and Fury (book #2 in "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series)
- March 1. - March 31.: A Court of Wings and Ruin & A Court of Frost and Starlight (book #3 in "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series and the novella)
- April 1. - April 30.: House of Earth and Blood (book #1 in the new "Crescent City" series)
- May 1.- May 31.: Throne of Glass (book #1 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- June 1. - June 30.: Crown of Midnight (book #2 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- July 1. - July 31.: Heir of Fire (book #3 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- August 1. - August 31.: Assasin's Blade (book #0.5 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- September 1. - September 30. - Queen of Shadows (book #4 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- October 1. - October 30.: Empire of Storms (book #5 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- November 1. - November 30.: Tower of Dawn (book #6 in "Throne of Glass" series)
- December 1. - December 31.: Kingdom of Ash (book #7 in "Throne of Glass" series)
ENJOY READING!
Since my 2020 reading goal is to read at least 55 books and every month has 4 weeks, I decided that I don't want to make a really big TBR, but rather to have only five or six books on my to-be-read list.
I want 2020 to be the best reading year - reading as many books as I can and also finally read all of those popular and trending books that I wanted to read past years.
This are the books I am hoping to read in January:
- The Starless Sea - Erin Morgenstern (on audiobook)
- A Court of Thorns and Roses - Sarah J.Maas
- The Subtle Art of not giving a F*ck - Mark Manson
- Spinning Silver - Naomi Novik (on audiobook)
- Skyward - Brandon Sanderson
- Ninth House - Leigh Bardugo
I probably won't actually read all of these books (I am a really slow reader), but it's fun to make a list of books I am interested in this month, to make some kind of monthly goal and hope for the best.
2020 is finally here and because this is a bookish blog I wanted the first post on this blog to be about my 2020 bookish resolutions. So here we go:
- Start a bookish blog (this one) - I decided that I want to start writing a bookish blog in 2020. I want a place of my own where I can express all my feelings about books I'm reading and loving.
- Start posting more bookstagram posts.
- Read at least 55 books - because there is 55 weeks in the year of 2020. One book a week would be perfect (but probably won't happen).
- Read at least one self-care book a month - for the past 5 years I was really struggling with self-care and self-love, so I want 2020 to be the year where I finally find my inner self-love and worth. I really think that reading books with that sort of content will help me a lot, so I want to read at least one self-care book a month.
- Participate in more Readathons (The Reading Rush, Magical Readathon, Spookathon,...)
- Host my own Read-along (Sarah J. Maas read-along) - I am one of those people that still hasn't read the whole Throne of Glass series (I'm on the book 4), so I decided to host a little Sarah J. Maas read-along this year where I want to read one of her books every month. More about this read-along in the future posts ;)
